about

Recorded Summer 1993.

This is taken from the first ever Johnny Domino recordings. "Earth" was recorded in the front room of our friend John Richardson, who drums here - JD alumni Albert Atkin was in the room but doesn't play on this.

John had a stereo mic which we used here to capture the drum track, acoustic guitar and vocal in one take - I added the bass and 'slide' guitar tracks later on in Ilkeston.

At the time, I didn't own a 'proper' slide. So on this recording I used an 8-ball which some Uni friends had stolen for me from the Pool table in our Student Union bar.

about

Giles and Steve formed JOHNNY DOMINO in the summer of 1993.
Over the next 3-4 years they recorded over 100 songs (known ... more as THE SHITHOUSE MASTERS) on a series of knackered 4-track recorders, drafting in other players on an ad-hoc basis.
Long-term SHITHOUSE alumni Jim became a full-time Domino in 1996, followed by Marc.
Johnny Domino played their final gig on December 23, 2006 at The Vaults, Derby. less
