Vocodamol

about

One of the techniques we came up with for writing songs for this album was getting Jim to pick two random bands. We would then try to write a bit music that would approximate this bastard offspring.

This is a case in point - I think the prompts here were Devo and The Who.

A lot of the keyboards on the album but particularly here were played on an old Casio PT-30, which Marc sourced from EBay - the lesser PT-20 was the first keyboard I ever bought. You can here the weedy organ sound and the throaty chord buttons throughout "Vocodamol".

about

Johnny Domino Derby, UK

Giles and Steve formed JOHNNY DOMINO in the summer of 1993.
Over the next 3-4 years they recorded over 100 songs (known as THE SHITHOUSE MASTERS) on a series of knackered 4-track recorders, drafting in other players on an ad-hoc basis.
Long-term SHITHOUSE alumni Jim became a full-time Domino in 1996, followed by Marc.
Johnny Domino played their final gig on December 23, 2006 at The Vaults, Derby.
